Proroute 4G Routers are built upon existing, tried and tested 3G router technology - the only thing that has changed is the new high speed 4G module inside. This means that you continue to get all the benefits of the Proroute M2M connectivity solution inlcuding their high quality construction, reliability and network keep-alive features at a price that does not stretch your budget for single or multiple installations.

The Proroute H820 LTE 4G Router is an industrial grade M2M 4G Router providing high speed 4G wireless broadband internet connectivity using the high speed UK 4G networks being rolled out in the UK. The Proroute H820 4G LTE Router uses an embedded LTE embedded module providing 4G connectivity with download speeds up to 100Mbps and upload speeds up to 50Mbps so there are no compatibility issues - just insert your 3G or 4G SIM and enjoy reliable, high speed wireless internet.

The Proroute H820 4G Router also supports 3G connectivity so it can be used in areas that do not yet have 4G services and this router supports all the latest 3G services including DC-HSPA+ (up to 42Mbps), 3.9G HSPA+ (up to 21Mbps) as well as the lower speed HSPA/UMTS 3G services and EDGE/GPRS 2G Data connectivity.

Like all Proroute 3G and 4G routers, the H820 is designed to provide a high speed, reliable mobile broadband connectivity and utilises several keep alive technologies and even includes Ping Reboot and SMS reboot for extra peace of mind.

The Proroute H820 4G Router provides wired LAN connectivity via 4 x 10/100 Ethernet LAN ports as well as wireless LAN via the 802.11b/g/n WiFi which includes all the WiFi security protocols for a secure wireless connection. The H820 router also features a WAN port so it can be connected to another router and can be configured to use the WAN internet connection and when the internet connection is lost then the router can activate the SIM card and switch to using the 3G/4G network until internet connection via the WAN port is re-established at which point the router will turn off the 3G/4G connection and continue using the WAN internet connection. This means that the Proroute H820 4G Router can be used as a failover 4G Router to provide extra resilience for wired broadband or leased line internet connections.

Q. What antennas come with the Proroute H820 4G Router?

A. The Proroute H820 4G Router is supplied with both stick type and magnetic mount antennas for both the Cellular and WiFi connections - these 4G antennas are for indoor use only and the different types are inlcuded for your installation convenience. Many users will just use the stick type antennas except when installing the router in a cabinet or other enclosed unit where there may be signal interferrence in which case the magnetic mount antennas installed outside the enclosure may provide better signal reception. Please note that when using the magnetic mount antennas that these are ground plane dependent which means that they will need to be placed upright on a metal surface at least 30cm x 30cm and spaced 60cm apart for ideal performance.

Q. Can I use an external 4G antenna with my Proroute H820 4G Router?

A. Yes - the proroute H820 4G router has screw type SMA antenna connectors so can be used with an external antenna. The typical reason for using an external antenna is that the 4G router is positioned in a location with very poor or no signal eg. inside a metal cabinet or metal construction building (portacabin / site office) but there is a strong 4G signal outdoors. The 4G antenna can be positioned in a location with a good signal and deliver this to the router. The higher gain on these outdoor antennas is not to improve the download speeds, the extra gain is required to compensate for the additional signal loss down the length of the antenna cable.
