Utilise Transmission Opportunity with OFDMA
OFDMA has been used in LTE for many years, and is now available in 802.11ax for multi-user mode. Traditionally with OFDM, each frame is transmitted across the entire channel width. With low-rate transmission still using the whole channel, it brings latency and jitter to others and lowers the overall efficiency.
OFDMA splits a single transmission into groups of subcarriers, and each subcarrier can be used by a different client. With multiple clients transmitting simultaneously in the same channel, it improves efficiency of every single transmission opportunity and thus increases the wireless experiences in high density environments.
Wireless Virtual Controller
Intelligent Auto-Configuration
Once connected to the 1062C, this feature can detect the type of AP, wired or wireless, and automatically determine the most appropriate network topology. For smaller wireless environments with fewer than 8 APs, it seamlessly enables Mesh mode; while in larger wired installations with more than 8 APs, then AP management mode will be activated for enhanced control and scalability.
Wireless Device Monitoring
The panel provides a comprehensive view of your network, allowing you to easily monitor devices, mesh status, and nearby APs. With the ability to monitor AP devices, it enables checking the WLAN clients, MAC, IP address, Status, SSID of each radio, number of clients, and firmware version all on one page. Even offline APs can be monitored. It is much easier to effectively manage and optimise the network.
Zero Touch Deployment
After auto-detecting and adding Node APs into management groups, the Root AP will provision the relevant AP configurations to Node APs.
WiFi Roaming
Solve the sticky client problem and improve WiFi roaming experience.
Roaming Protocol
The VigorAP 1062C supports 802.11r and 802.11k roaming protocols. These protocols enable WiFi clients to seamlessly transition to another AP/router that offers a stronger signal when moving within an area that has multiple APs/routers. Clients that are also compatible with these roaming protocols will experience the advantages of proactive roaming.
Assisted Roaming
The “Minimum RSSI with Adjacent AP” option in VigorAP allows for the disassociation of a client only if there is another adjacent AP/router that provides a stronger wireless signal to the client. Otherwise, the client will remain connected.
Router-based AP Management
DrayTek provides an all-in-one management platform for Vigor devices on the LAN side.
Automatic Device Discovery
All you need is to connect the VigorAP to the LAN side of the router, the Vigor Router will then discover the devices to be managed.
Provisioning
Wireless LAN profile can be preset on the Vigor Router. Once the managed VigorAP is connecting to the router, the setting profile will be provisioned to the VigorAP automatically.
Monitoring
Vigor Router provides a centralised view of the managed devices, you can also check if a managed VigorAP is online.
System Maintenance
You may perform a factory reset, save/restore a configuration backup, or trigger a remote reboot directly on the Vigor Router. There’s no need to log in to each device’s management page.
Three Modes in One
AP Mode
This is the mode mostly used. The VigorAP acts as a bridge between wireless devices and wired Ethernet network, and exchanges data between them.
Pros
- Less performance decay
Cons
- Limited wireless coverage
- Require physical wire to connect to the Ethernet
Range Extender
The VigorAP acts as a wireless repeater. It can be a Station and an AP at the same time.
Pros
- Compatibility among different brands
- Extend wireless coverage
Cons
- No self-healing uplinks
- Need to install and check manually
- Performance decay
Mesh
Wirelessly connect 1~8 APs, and form a Mesh Group. A mesh network creates a set of links automatically and calculate the most optimal wireless path through the wireless network back to a wired Mesh Root.
Pros
- Easy installation
- Self-healing uplinks
- Extend wireless coverage
Cons
- No compatibility among different brands
- Performance decay
